conven tio n , w ith o u t an y ro w d y ism a n d d ru n k e n n e s s
an d not ev en n eed a serg e a n t-a t-a rm s, you know
th e b est folk fro m e v ery co m m u n ity of th e n atio n
w ere th ere. It w as tr u ly a C h ristia n g ath erin g .
Second, it w as a co n v en tio n w h ere th e re w as
no sectio n alism , ra c e d iscrim in atio n , p arty ism , r e ­
ligious p reju d ice, etc., th e p rin cip le of e q u a lity p r e ­
v ailed th ro u g h o u t e v e ry session.
T h ird , th e d eleg ates w en t to th e co n v en tio n w ith
one o b jectiv e in m ind, nam ely, th e e a rlie s t possi­
ble e n a c tm e n t of th e T o w n sen d p lan in to law an d
