Most of Mason Hill residents as

hors to the south spent all day
Sunday fighting fire, w hich, c o n ­
sidering the gale th a t was blowing,
m ight easily have been serious. T he
M unson tim b er accross th e road
from th e school house was m ostly
bu rn ed to the ground. From this
fire th e high w ind c arried spark3
across a plow ed field, sta rtin g a n ­
o th er fire on th e C larence G onyo
land. O nly quick w ork saved tne
G onyo house. It headed stra ig h t
for th e C harles Woods buildings,
but luckily it w as also headed off
in tim e. T he Lew M unson house
was on fire several tim es, but was
saved by Mrs. M unson's w atchful
care.
