State M o to r association.
I t was based on n a tio n a l auto-
! m obile accident fig u re s w h e re in it
I was shown th a t 36,000 persons w ere
k ille d and 954.000 in ju re d d u rin g
the 1934 calendar year.
I f one o f th e c h ild re n is k ille d ,
chances are n e a rly one o u t o f tw o
he w ill be s tru c k by an autom o­
b ile w h ile w a lk in g , it was fu rth e r
i pointed o u t b y th e m o to r associa-

The greatest cause o f pedestrian
fa ta litie s, records show, is crossing

were caused by w a lk in g along a
' ru ra l h ighw ay.
