Snyder entertained with a picnic
partv Sunday August 5. in honor
of her parents. Mr and Mrs David
Fiske of Multnomah on their fif­
tieth wedding anniversary. T he oc­
casion was also Mr Fiske's seventy-
th ird birthday.
Sixty-five guests were present and
many messages were also received
Mrs Fiske's m other. Mrs. S V.
Lawrence of Raleigh, who is 88
years old. was present and made
the wedding cake She also made
th e cake 50 years ago when Miss
M ettle Lawrence became th e bride
of David Fiske a t the Samuel Law­
rence home in Coffee county K an ­
sas
They came to Oregon in 1888. set­
tling in tlie Scholls vicinity near
w hat is now Kmton It was a most
enjoyable day for the couple to be
back in the community which was
th eir home for many years.
Mr. Fiske was formerly an em ­
ploye at the G roner and Rowell
mill and tile factory and w a s
foreman of the plant for 17 years,
retiring when ill health left him
a wheel chair invalid.
Mrs. Ford G roner read a poem
w ritten for the occasion by Mrs
Ida Kays.
Mrs Rebecca Rowell. 83 years old.

them a generous purse which was
