More About Walnuts
Where transportation it a consideration the planting of walnuts ia still more
important. You can haul $1200 worth of walnuts on a two ton load at the
present price of 30centtand a normal crop will produce this amount on about
5 acres. ;
Forty acres of wheat with 25 bushels yield per acre, at $1.20 per bushel
will yield you $1200, and weighs 30 tons.
Ten acres of potatoes, 80 sacks per acre, at $1.50 per sack equals $1200
and your crop is 40 tons.
Twenty-seven acres of hay at 3 tons per acre, at $15 per ton, equals the
same money and you have 80 tons.
Just consider what it means to get these crops to market as compared to
getting $1200 worth of walnuts to the market.
