THE LATE DR. BAILEY
When a man passes the three
score years and ten by a decade
and rounds out a well-ordered
life m a community, passing
away with the esteem of an entire
commonwealth, he has not lived
in vain. He has left an example
well worth while, and there is no
thought of him but is replete with
tenderness, esteem ami well de
served encomium. Such i- the
legacy left by the late Or. F. A.
Bailey, who for many years min
istered to the sick of IIillboro
and Washington County. His
name for more than a generation
was a household word, and his
presence always sensed the deep
est respect for his ability as a
physician; his broaduiindedness
as a man of affairs, and his posi
tion as a factor in our every -day
life as one who was a splendid
judge of the law of averages in
this vale of joy and tears. His
deep .sense of justice in no way
abated even in his declining
years, and his abiding faith in
rectitude was his highest worth,
after all is said and done. He is
mourned by a multitude who
knew him as he was, a man of
rare ability, justice-loving, kind
ly, ever ready to help the weak
and erring, and always with a
.word of encouragement to those
who were deserving, and many
times assisting those who were
not. Taken by and large, we
rarely look upon his like, and in
speaking of the fullness of his
life, his genuine worth, his spot
less manhood, and his wonderful
devotion to his home ties, we
dumbly deplore the inadequacy
of the English language in w hich
he was so richly versed. There is
neither finite nor Infinite reason
whv he will not "rest well."
