Jesse Traver, lessee of the place, wns milking nt the lime, and does not know how the lire caught. He .succeeded in get ting the Hi head of dairy cows and other stock out of the burn, and saved his tractor, but 100 tons of hay, all his farm ma chinery, and much other personal property went up in smoke. The big silo attached to the structure ms also destroyed. During the tire the silo gasses caused an ex-plo-.ion and threw a terrific cloud of smoke into the heavens. This was seen' here nt llillsboro, and the gasses formed a huge dog's head in the heavens. There was no insurance, and the barn being worth probably $3,000, and being comparatively new. and the 100 tons of hay worth $.1,000, the loss is low at the estimate of ten thousand dol lars. The loss is a severe one on both the lessee, Mr. Traver, ami on the owner of the barn, the liiivtou estate. MRS. CEO. PERRINE Mr. dni, I'errine, well known here when her husband contract ed in this section in the early ninties, died a few days ago in California. The remains were brought to Yamhill County for burial. Mr. I'errine and a daugh ter survives. He states that death was very sudden. She complain ed of a violent headache one eve ning, and 'with ui a few minutes was completely paralysed.
