chased the bird into the brambles
and it made its getaway, by this
time it was dark, and he reported
to Mrs. Dan. who coolly inform
ed Dan that he might give up
easily but no turkey bird in the
world could force her to capitu
late. She made Dan rig up a
lantern and they sallied forth,
being a trille suspicious of Long,
of the Aruus who also likes tur
key Dan made a beeline for the
lumber-yard to the west of the
Long bungalow, where Mr. and
Mrs. Dan hunted for nearly nn
hour. They finally gave up, Mrs.
Dan swearing she would have
that bird in the morning at day
light. After warming up by the
tire they concluded they would
go back to the barn and see just
how the gobbler made his escape
