Josiah Millar, who died at his
Reedville home. July 26. 1917.
was born in South Durham.
Quebec, Canada, April 17, 1856.
At the age of 21 he came to Ore
gron and he had been identified
with the state over 40 years
For 30 years he wa3 a citizen of
this county. June 5, 1888, he
was married to Mary Ellen Rob
inson, of Farmington. Three
children were born to the union,
two of whom are living Wm. R.,
Portland, and Alfred, of Reed
ville. The greater part of his
married life was spent at Reed
ville as farmer and merchant.
Ot his immediate family there
are five brothers ane three sis
ters: George, John, Alfred and
Robert, South Durham, Canada
Dr. Stanley Millar, Alberta, and
Mary, Grace and Annie, of Can
ad a, and a grandson, Robert
Millar.
He was a fine character, and
was universally esteemed. He
had an unfailing fund of good na
ture, and he carried good cheer
wherever he went. He was al
ways interested in things that
meant betterment, ror many
years he conducted the Reedville
Sunday School as superintendent,
and he left his impress in every
community in which he resided.
His hundreds of friends in Wash
ington County will miss him.
His widow and two sons have
the sympathy of a large circle of
friends.

Secretary of State, has remem
bered the Argus with the 1917
Blue Book, published for the
state. It is well edited and its
compilations contain a great deal
of information that is of interest
to the citizenry of Oregon, as
well as to a newspaper. Come

sting meeting was held there

to develop and improve. Great
plans are being made at Orenco J

with the line of boosters that
they have there, they should
make good.
On Thursday evening a busi
ness meeting of the Hillsboro
branch of the League was held,
at which time a program was
outlined for the County Improve
ment Congress to be held here
on Sept. 18. 19 and 20th. This
program will be published later,
and in general it will be a real
home talent festival.
Every live wire in Washington
County should be a booster for
this League and the Improve
ment Congress. It means bet
ter things for everybody.
