The premium list for the 1910
Washington County Fair is now
ready for distribution, and if you
do not receive a copy within the
next ten daya or two weeks, call
on Secretary R. W. Reder, Presi
dent Joseph Hurley, or the
News-rimes, and a copy will be
given you. With the special
prizes to be ottered this year
there is a grand total of $2,200
offered in the various depart
ments of the fair, and nearly
every product of the county and
state has been ptovided for. Get
a list, study it over, and decide
now to go in and get some of the
prize money.
In addition to the prizes listed
in the premium list there will be
nearly $600 worth of special
prizes, made up of money and
merchandise. This list of special
prizes will be issued later. J. F.
Forbja. the public spirited citi

southwest of the cjty, has do
nated $50 in cash to be used for
special prizes. The Orenco Nur
sery Co. has donated $10 worth
of nursery stock for suecial
prizes, while the business men
of Forest Grove and Portland
have donated hundreds of dollars
in lesser amounts for special
prizes for the evunta to be held
during the four days of the fair.
Tliis entire amount will be U9ed
not only for products, live stock,
etc , but will be used for sport
and contests of all kinds. A
unique and interesting contest is
bejng arranged between the fire
departments of the county, and
already much enthusiasm has
been aroused In the various
cities. It is anticipated that
"stunts" by the fire laddies will
be the leading feature of the
speuial attractions.
The new grounds, as planned,
will ha e all the space heretofore
used, and coupled with the ath
letic field and track, will make
an ideal setting. Ample stock
sheds will be provided for. On
the old ground there was some
420 feet, On the new grounds
there will be 600 feet and more
if needed. Space for oter ex
hibits will be ample, and then in
addition there will be the fine,
cool grove surrounding the Uni
versity that may be used by the
visitors for a resting place.
We want to call particular at
tention to the School Depart
ment of the County Fair. This
will include all the features
gjven jn thjs department last
year, including a total of $270
for oooth displays and for the
big parade features. In addition
to these will be a fine line of
of prizes for the sports and
games on school day.
Remember the Fair will be
held in the city of Forest Grove
this year, on Wednesday, Thurs
day, Friday and Saturday. Sept.
20 to 23 inclusive, and that there
will be something doing every
day, watch for the program
and announcements of special
events. Gov. Withycombe and a
large number of Portland busi
ness men have promised to come
and help us get started on open
ing day. Will you help the men
who are helping Washington
County by holding this fair, by
making an exhibit of your farm
products, and when you do that
then come in and see what your
neighbor has sent in. Secretary.
