ton County Pomona Grange met
with Hillsboro Grange for the
last quarterly meeting of the
year. The crowds arriving; in
Hillsboro on the S. P. and Ore
gon Electric trains in the morn
ing were met by the reception
committee and conducted to the
Hall, which wu tastefully deco
rated with Autumn leaves and
the grains and grasses from the
County Fair exhibit of the local
Grange. A fine new piano, the
result of making the exhibit at
the Fair, was in evidence.
After the routine business of
the morning all repaired to the
dining-room, where a bountiful
spread of all the good things to
eat from the farm, orchard and
garden, had been prepared by
the ladies of this Grange.
The afternoon session was
opened with music, followed ' by
an address by Rev. Myron L
Boozer, of Orenco, hia subject
being. 'The Development of So
cial Conditions in the Kurai
Engineer CaStln. who tail
charge of the state highway
work, was here Monday, and
went over the state highway
leading from the Portland moun
tain, past Beaverton, Keedville,
Hillsboro and Forest Grove, to
the Yamhill line, via Gaston.
The state commission expects to
appropriate ten thousand dollars
for the section of road between
Hillsboro and Forest Grove. Mr.
Cantine went over the road with
the county court and J. A.
Thornburgh. and will report later
to the commission. This is his
first trip over Washington eoun
ty and he thinks we have a rich
section.
