visitor is an old railrcad nan.

made at Galva. 111., some of
which have found their way to
the coast. Mr. Kinsey has been
traveling through California,
visiting the Fairs, etc.. bat he
says he does not like that state
as well as Oregon. He is pleased
with Oregon. Washington County
and Portland. He goes faim
here to Alaska, before returning
East.
Richard Hoyt, son of Mr. and
Mrs. L M. Hoyt, went to the
Good Samaritan Hospital, last
week, and is undergoing surgical
treatment to make straight a
foot that he injured when he
was very small. It will take some
weeks for the operation, one that
has been successful in 90 per
cent of the cases tried. The
treatment is succeeding nicely so
tar.
A teamster bv the name of
Mavbee. hau inur from the Sid
prell mill, was thrown from his
loaded wagon, just south of the
Tualatin bridge, the other day.
and suffered a broken collar
bone, two badly twisted ribs, and
a severely torn ear. Dr. Smith
straightened him out, but he will
not be teaming for some time.

A. G. Hoffman, the Forest
Grove merchant, was given first
prize at the Buyers' Banquet, in
Portland, fast evening. Mr.
Hoffman was given two minutes
for the best essay on the town in
which a buyer lives, and his
showing was so good that he re
ceived first honors.
Complaint from all quarters of

his prime in the hop districts.
Many fields, where spraying has
not been indulged will have a

who have assiduously sprayed,

The 10-year-old son of G. B.
Johnson, of near Scholls, ran a
pitchfork tine in his foot one day
last week, and blood poison re
sulted. Dr. E. H. Smith attend
ed the infection.
The little son of E. P. Corne
lius and wife, of above North
Plains, has been taking treat
ment for blood poison in one of
his ieet, Dr. E. H. Smith attend
ing the trouble.
