The German Speaking Society of
Washington County will hold a
meeting at Hendrick's Hall, Cor
nelius, at 1:30 p. bu. Monday.
Feb. 15. at which several ad
dresses will be made aaent the
European war. Oswald Olson.
of Cornelius, who recently re
turned from studying in Ger
many, will talk in German and
English, and will tell how the
war is affecting Germany, and of
general conditions there. Mr.
Olson is a bright young man. and
a keen observer. The public is
generally invited. The meeting
will have no adnxssion charge.
but a collection will be taken tor
the relief fund for the suffering
people.
Kev. balzmann. or Portland.
and others will deliver address.
The German Society is making
every effort to make this meet
ing a success, and a big attend
ance will be appreciated. It will
be interesting to hear Mr. Olson,
as his information will be the
result of personal contact with
conditions in Germany.
Mr. Olson has been taking
voice culture in Berlin, and but
recently arrived home. He made
a stop in New xork, where tie
had several engagements at
studios and concerts. It will be
well worth while to hear him.

Henry Wilson, a son of the
late bherbume Wilson, known
here for years, was out from
Portland. Saturday, greeting
former Hillsboro friends. He is
now a contractor and builder in
the nose City.
According to the Tillamook
papers there will be many new
nouses duiu along the beach at
Ilockaway and Elmore, this sea
son. One man alone expects to
put several thousand dollars
worth of cottages and have
them in readiness for the season,
