pany, was yesterday ifiven a
Christmas gift in the shape of a
Jl.ODO verdict against the Hills-
twro Telephone Company foe
daiaagea sustained Sept 21 1913,
while employed in taking down
wires from poles on Waahington
Street. Souther waa injured in
both feet and his right ankle
was fractured so badly that he
will always have more or less of
a permanent disability, the
Mile on which he was working
was being abandoned by the
company, and the line were
being taken down and placed on
new-set poles. The particular
pole on w hich Souther was work
ing fell, precipitating him to the
ground. He was laid up several
weeks, and within a year
brought suit for damages.
H. It. and Thos. 11. Tongue
were counsel for Souther, and
Bagley & Hare and H. T. Bag ley
were handling the case for the
telephone people. The complaint
asked for $10,000.
Souther has been working for
the J. H. Williams pool room for
several months, and is wejl
known here, hia parent having
mads Hillsboro their home for
a number of years.

State Dairy and Food Commis
sioner of Oregon, died at the
family home. 1155 East Yamhill.

was born at Mondavi. Wis.
Sept 13, 1874, and moved to
Dayton. Wash., with her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hunter, in
878, and from Dayton, moved to
Portland in 1890. She was wed
ded to Mr. Mickle, Jan. 16. 1895.
Her mother. Mrs. Henry Hunter,
still resides at Forest Grove. She
is survived by her husband and
three daughters -Anabel. aged
5; Helen, aged 12. and Ruth.

McMinnville, and Mrs. Frank
