Oregon's United States Senator
GEORGE E. CHAMBERLAIN
As Governor of Oregon made a substantial and brilliant record
for economy. Never one word has been uttered agaiust his luuor
and integrity.
As Uuitcd States Senator his record eclipses that of any Oregon
Senator. Daring his first term he was elevated to the Chairmanship
on Senate Military affairs, and on the Committee of Appropriation
has been of great value to Oregon.
Senator Chamberlain is np for re-election. Read what the Na
tional Tribune, Washington, O. C, says:
"Senator Chamberlain has, during his five years in the senate,
justified the choice of the people of Oregon, and has shown himself a
man of unusual ability and devotion to the public interests. He is
far from being a "rnbberstamp" for southern politicians, as one
northern member of congress proclaimed himself to be, but has
carried his own Sovereignty and done his own thiuking urnlcr his
own hat. In this way he has attained a very flattering promiucucc
among his colleagues as a man of light and leading, and whose utter
ances must be listened to with careful attention.
This led his being given assignment to the important com
mittees of military affairs, agriculture and forestry appropriations,
commerce, public lands and territories. There are a few senators
who have an equal place on so many committees of the first rank"
