J. C. Bechen and wife, of near
Orenco, returned Sunday from
their trip to Norway. Mr.
Bechen says that in the 33 years
since he last saw his native land
it ha3 made great strides much
beyond his expectations. The
labor question, however, is the
big problem over there, and he
found socialism stronger there
than it is here in America. He
found people generally prosper
ous, however, and the country
progressing finely. He says that
east ot Chicago the Spring crops
are light, while Wisconsin has a
banner crop. Minnesota and the
Dakotas have a good crop, al
though in Minnesota they are
somew hat "spotted." Mr. Bech
en was in town Tuesday, and
says that he is glad to get back
to the land of his adoption. Mr.
Bechen states that they heard
practically no discussion of the
present European troubles when
he was in Norway, the peninsula
being signally free from disturb
ances of international character.
