It is alleged that Mr. I'.urtt had made application to retain the position he has held this year, and this precipitated the warfare. The teachers claim that the school board unvested that the students vote on the popularity of the teachers as an indication of the standing of the corps. This was done, anyway, with the result that every instructor had some negative votes. It ap pears that all of the teachers re sented the procedure, anil after the student body had called the teachers in, ami read the result. there was indignation among the corps. The teachers involved, and who resigned, are: Mr. I'.urtt. Miss Bollinger, Miss lloldrirk, Miss Denhart and Mus Taddock. Director ltai'Iey stated this morning that classes would be heard today and tomorrow, and that by Monday morning the va cancies in the corps would In filled, and all would resume its usual calm.
