member of a local German
clam and develoied into a
very enthusiastic student. It was not
long before she learned to read a little
Uertuau, but tbe pnuiuiiciatiou of the
language was somewhat more ardu
ous. At a recent meeting of tbe class
she afforded thorn more amusement
than tbey got out of the German hu
morists they were rending.
One of the questions lu the lesson
for the day was, "Are you not glad
you are able to learn German?"
The auswer, which was, of course.
In German, was "Ja, gewlss," which
means "Yes, certainly."
When Mrs. Ueemnn was called upon
to rend. the question and answer she

ton County, Forest Grove. Hills
toro, Gaston, Banks and Scholia,
met at Forest Grove last Satur
day, in district convention, and
there was a large attendance.
Over 1J0 were in attendance and
Uillsboro sent a large delegation.
Mrs. Margaret Mallory.of For
est Grove, greeted the delegates
with a warm welcome, and Mrs.
L W Wilkes responded from
IlillKboro. Short addresses were
made by Mrs. Charlotte Wood
man, of Portland, and Mrs. It,
I. oreer. of Hillsboro, both of
whom have filled the chair of
uresident of the Oregon Re
lkahs. Past Grand Master W.
A. Wheeler and wife, of Port
land, were present, and took
part in the program. Mrs. M. C.
Case, of Hillsboro. presided over
the session. Hanks was selected
as next year's meeting place.
Officers were elected as follows
Mrs. Mary Ward. chairman; Miss
Miller. Forest Grove, vice chair
man; Miss Mae Moore, secretary.
A nne banquet was served at
noon, and in the afternoon the
program was the exemplification
of the secret work; a question
box, and musical selections.

an execution, deert and order of sale,
issued out of and under the seal of the
Circuit Court of the f tale of Oregon, for
the County of Washington, dated tbe 1Mb
