The State Industrial Welfare Commission is insisting that their rates of wages shall be paid wo men who are employed by Ore gon firms. Perry Gardner, of Quatama, was in town Monday, greeting friends. Perry says that his house was robbed the first time in his life, when he and Mrs. Gardner were in Portland last week. Walter Hoge. for several years the publisher of the Forest Grove 1 imes, later merged to the News- Times, died in Portland, Sunday evening, after an illness of three months. Mr. Hoge was mayor of forest Grove in 1908. and af ter going out of business as edi tor of the Times, bought into a job printing plant, in Portland. K. & N. with Hugh Rogers, to look at the timber sit- uation. Mr. Elder wants to es tablish a mill at Hillsboro. if proper facilities can be procured. L. B.
