Van B. Mead, of Orenco, was
a city caller Saturday, van
thinks the nursery town is about
the right thing, and he looks for
it to rival Hillsboro in trade in a
few years.
D. C. Stokesbury, of Forest
Grove, who built the stretch of
road between Hillsboro and Dairy
Creek, west of town, one of the
best pieces of macadam in the
county, considering the travel,
was down to the city Saturday.
Herman Luck, of Mountain
dale, was in town Friday. He
says the crusher up in his sec
tion is through for the year, and
that nearly a half mile of good
road has been laid since work
opened.
T.W. Sain, of Gaston, was down
to the city Saturday. Thos. says
that Hillsboro is now getting the
finest water on the coast out of
Sain Creek and he says that it
is the finest antidote in the world
for the rabies of any kind.
W. H. Luster, of Strassel, be
tween Buxton and Timber, was
in town Monday. He says that
he now has a postoflice within a
quarter of a mile of his home,
and this makes it quite conveni
ent for his mail.
Hillsboro High's football eleven
went to McMinnville, Saturday,
and suffered a defeat by Mc
Minnville High, by a score of 66
to 0, The youngsters here al
lege that the Mack team out
weighed them twenty pounds to
the man.
