one of the State Tax Commis

act status of values as between
seller and buyer. This will be
used by the state commission in
fixing values for the tax appor

commission will take up ten

thousand transactions laid before
the board. Values is what the
commission is after, so they can

Dora Reed Barber states that
she was misquoted as to her po
sition with the release of the two
minors, Orin LaCourse and Dan
Ward, committed to the Boys
Training School. She says she
did not want to take advantage
of any lapse of the law, what
ever, and was at Salem trying to
get a parole, only, for the young
sters. She thinks a parole would
be beneficial, but she does not
want to take advantage of any
technicality of the statute, which
so sadly bungled the court con
trol of lads between sixteen and
eighteen
Search over all the county fails
to reveal any Christian Welkner,
alleged by Carl Wenkler to re
side within 10 miles of this place.
Young Welkner, who was sen
tenced to six years in the pen at
Atchison, subsequently making
an unsuccessful attempt at sui
cide, and the next day escaping
from jail, has not yet been ap
prehended. Peter Crossen, of near Helve
tia, waa down to the city the last
of the week.

Reliability is one of
the first things we look for when
we buy scythes and hooks. The
steel of which the blades are made
is tested by us, next we see that
the handles have that hefty feel
that makes the sythe or hook a
good tool. You are sure of them
being good when you buy here.
