just arrived from the East, is
hearing rehearsals for the affair,
which is under the auspices of
the Coffee Club. The Bock En
tertainment Co., directing the
program, has had a great suc
cess in the eastern states, and
00 local people will stage pretty
choruses, catchy music, and
amusing dialogues.
The play is called the "Wash-
ngton County Fair. and there
is promise of two splendid even
ingsa genuine reproduction of
the old-time county fair.
The proceeds will be used for
the purpose of beautifying the
local cemetery.

Edw. McAndrew was the first
of the week sentenced to thirty
days in jail for stealing a stop
watch from L. h. Brain, at the
'orest Grove race track. McAn
drew took hospitality from Brain
and then when the latter went
to the Grove he went a little
further and took his timepiece.
McAndrew afterward came to
Hillsboro where it is said he tried
to sell the tickers for $2. When
he was arrested he had the watch
in his possession.
