seldom thanked for w hat they do,
A few schools last year made
much of the Annual School Meet
ing !ay; took time to look over
their property, suggest improve
ments, and plan for the luture,
In each of those districts condi
tiotw improved at once. I am
sure a man or woman who at
tends the Annual School Meeting
and does his duty, w ill feel more
like celebrating on the Fourth of
July.

busy refunding license money to
those who have paid. A coun
try dog once in a while slips into
town, looks up and down the
street, and. seeing no wassail
companions roving here and
there, looks bewildered, and then
quietly curls up under the wagon
and goes to sleep. The next
time his master comes in he re
fuses to follow the wagon,
probably on the grounds that
"There aint no fun goin to town
no mom.
Capt McCann is giving the
people of Washington County
some fine racing at his Forest
Grove track. He will begin aun
dav races next Sunday, June 15,
and continue them until further
notice. Some of the finest hotses
in the Northwest arc stabled and
beinir trained on the grounds,
preparing for the Fall campaign
at the various race meets.

Dr. A. Miles Taylor, wife and

here from San Francisco, the first
of the week, making the trip in
a motor. Miss Lucy Weatherred
returned w th them, after
pleasant visit in the May City

Weatherred. and the visitors will
remain in Oregon for an extend
ed visit
