Hillslioro is k'oin to make an at
tempt to jfft down to business in
the way of the formation of a
successful (mmercial Club.
Primary action has been initiated
in buying outright the carjts
and furnishmi's of the west half
of the upjier floor of the Tamie
sie Building, occupied by a store
on the lower floor, and it i3 un
derstood that the rental figures

idea is to have a smoker next
Thursday evening, at w hich time
the matter of adding members
to the club will be taken up, as
well as the furniturintr of the
proosed quarters.
A irood. live commercial club
has Ion a been Hillsboro's need
and the first trreat need is a
home for the organization.
It comes from jraxl authority
that Dr. Tamiesie will rent the
rooms in question which con
stitute a half of the upper floors
- for $30 p-r month, including
the heat. The carpet has al
ready been bargained for by in
dividuals who are members of
the organization.
A few more futures, in the
way of chairs, rockers, tables,
billiard tables etc., will be need
ed, and if the membership can
be augmented with any degree
of success Hillsboro promises to
come out from under, and show
the state at large one of the best
ulis and neatest club houses in
any city in the state, outside of
Ortland. All business men and
citizens, w ho are taking an in
tercst in the future of the town
are requested to come out next
hursday night, and become
members. It isn't going to break
anyone, and the Argus trusts
that the meeting will lead to the
successful organization of a club
that will stand among the best
in the best tow n in the lest state
in the union. The call for the
meeting follows:
fo the Business Men and Iiesi
dents of Hillsboro:

CONdRFtlATIONAl. CHURCH
Sunday morning. May 4. Evan P,
Hughes w ill present to his church
and congregation the reasons
why lie should accept their invi
tation to the leadership of the
work here, and also the reasons
why he should decline the same
invitation, with a statement
his final decision in the matter,
Several months ago the church
issued the call, but Mr. Hughes
declined to consider the possibili
ty of his coming, owing to busi
ness circumstances. He was re
quested to name the conditions
on which it would be possible for
him to give such a proposition
serious consideration. He did so.
Ihe church promptly met all the
conditions, except one. Without
waiting further to hear the
church's action relative to that
one remaining condition, the act
ing Pastor will tender his deci
sion next Sunday morningr. He
feels now. as he has felt for some
time, that the Church needs the
entire time and thought of a
Pastor. Ihree years ago the
membership was discouraged to
a degree; talk of disbanding was
indulged in; and now, there is no
such feeling, and the largest sal
ary in the history of the church
has been already subscribed.
A very general interest is felt
in the coming meeting Sunday
morning. The membership and
congregation of the Church will
be largely represented, and every
one interested in its work and
prosperity, is cordially invited to
be present
