James McClaran, aged 77 years,
slipped and fell while walking
between his house and woodshed,
last Saturday, and broke his
right arm. Dr. Tucker, of the
drove, reduced the fracture.
Mr. McClaran is a pioneer of 1863,
and has lived in this county ever
since reaching Oregon.
The easement deeds for a dozen
or more rights for the Washing
ton-Oregon Corporation pipeline,
between Sain Creek- and Dilley
have been filed for record with
Recorder Perkins. This Shows
that the company means busi

Miss Hose Cave, daughter of
Mrs. M. Cave, wa3 the first wo
man in Washington County to
vote at an election after equal
suffrage became a matter of Ore
gon history and law. Gov. West
issued the proclamation last Sat
urday, and this made eligibility
for women voters. Miss Cave
was on hand bright and early
Monday morning, waiting for the
polls to open, and in about two
minutes her ballot was readv.
She handed it to Chairman J. C.
jimkin. who announced her vote
to the clerks, Fred Siegrist and
Chas. Lamktn.
Miss Cave was born and raised
in Ilillslioro. She is a graduate
ot the Hillsboro schools, and for
years has been a stenographer
and abstracter in the office of
Bagley & Hare. She is possess
ed of property in her own name,
ar.d was the plaintiff in the in
junction suit against the Warren
Construction Co. and the city of
Hillsboro filed to prevent laying
gravel bitulithic in front of a lot
on Washington street. Miss
Cave's popularity was proven
ast Winter when she won a
piano in a local contest, tier
father was one of Hillsboro
pioneer blacksmiths and hard
ware men. and for over 40 years
was agent for the daily Oregon
ian.

LEARY HJERBER
A charming wedding of last
week was that of Mr. Fred Gray
Learv. of Utica. New York, and
Miss Lillian Guerber, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Guerber,
of North Hillsboro. The wed
ding took place at the First Bap
tist Church. Portland, Oregon
Wednesday evening, November
27. 1912. Kev. W. B. Hinson of
ficiating. The bride was given
into the keeping of the bride
groom by her father. Miss
Estella Guerber was bridesmaid
and Mr. Lenholm acted as best
man.
After the ceremony a reception
was held at the city home of the
bride s parents for relatives and
intimate friends and where the
bridal couple received congratu
lations. The house was artistically dec
orated with Autumn tints. Ore
gon grape and huge bunches of
pink chrysanthemums.
After an extended trip to
Puget Sound cities, Mr. and Mrs.
Leary will make their home in
Portland.
Chas. Demmin, of South Tual
atin, has returned from a Sum
mer's stay at Prindle Wash., in
the Cascades, where he has been
logging. He states that when
he left over there the last of the
week there was two feet of
snow in the mountains. He will
I remain here for the Winter.

About fifty young opte from
the sit young leople' societies
gathered in the Donelson build
ing last Monday evening to finish
the social which they started
about a month ago. The enter
tainment took the form of a col
lege track meet, the O. A, C.
Pacific University. OUriin and
Yale colleges being represented.
The O. A. C. carried ot! tlie
trophy, which was a cup - a P)c
drinking cup. After singing a
number of songs, they dispersed
singing "Blest be the Tie That
