all week, and several criminal
cases have been Rettled. Fran
cisco Fat tore, charged with as
sault, pleaded guilty and was
fined $75 and costs; C. S. Cayne.

guilty and sentence was sus
pended during good behavior;
Mantha, the Carden Home wife
beater, was given a parole upon
a plea of guilty, to report each
month, and if he falls from grace
he will have to serve a year;
Tillamook has a prosecuting
officer that is now leing laughed
at by the members of the bar at
that place. A young fellow who
spent a few weeks at Hillsboro
last Summer, went over there
last w eek, drumming up students
for painting lessons. While get
ting business for the painting
master he met a young lady, and
after a day or so asked to call.
She permitted him to call, and
the next time he made his ap
pearance the "dad" met him
w ith a shotgun. It appears that
the young fellow, on meeting
the girl at the door, had shaken
hands with her. and had held on
