John E. Zimmerman, of beyond
Glencoe, was in town Saturday,
greeting his many county seat
friends. John went un in his
section when there was all kinds
of a wilderness, and he is now
beginning to see lots of daylight
in the timber.
Mrs. T. C. Wadsworth, of near
W heeler, was in town the last of
the week, the guest of her fath
er, Dr. J. E. Adkins. T. C. is
one of the busy farmers, these
days, and he is making his tract
in the Keaverton-Keedville Acre
age bloom like a rose.

Andrew Heckmann was in
from Bethany. Saturday, and
brought in two eggs which carry
the belt for size against anything
exhibited here this season. Both
were from yearling pullets, one
from a Andalusian and one a
Rhode Island Red. The two
would weigh over 8 ounces.
The District Attorney at Santa
Rosa, Cal., writes Sheriff Han
cock that on March 23 one L. R.
Chisholm killed a J. D. Powell,
near that place. He writes that
he thinks they originally came
from this section of Oregon.
Any one knowing either of the
men will confer a favor by loca
ting their people.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Dooher de
parted last week for Rice Lake,
Wis., their old home, for an ex
tended visit. They went East
via the Oregon Electric and Hill
lines, and expect to be absent all
Summer. Mr. Dooher was for
merly a lumberman in the big
Wisconsin timber district, before
that industry was shot to pieces
a few years ago.
Sunday night a gentle rain
broke ever this section of Ore
gon, and by Monday morning it
was coming down, without a
breath of wind, falling on the
iust and uniust. alike. .1. W
Connell says: "This is worth a
million dollars to Washington
County, alone. Even should we
lose a little hav. or have it dam
aged slightly, we will still be
gainers.
Herman Bishup. the Mountain-
dale sawmill man. was in the
city Saturday. He reports that
Sam Sipp had a runaway the
other day, resulting in a crushed
foot, the wagon wheel having
passed over the extremity. The
loss was not confined to personal
bruises, for Sam lost a valuable
horse, one ot the animals having
broken a leg, necessitating shoot
ing it. The animal was worth
$250 and Sam probably would
not have taken that much in,
gold for it
