The Wheeler Baseball Team!
Ever hear of that aggregation
of speedy young men who are
teaching the east end of the
county what baseball really and
truly represents? And who have
fattened the phrase "Going
Some" to fulsomeness? The lads
in their natty uniforms have
played "spider to the fly" to all
visitors, and have defeated Reed
ville, Scholls and Orenco and
Scholls went against them strong,
while Wheeler simply gave them
professional stunts in allopathic
doses, in a four to three defeat.
The Cornelius Oak Grove team
was to have played Sunday, and
the Wheeler boys fixed up things
fine for the visitors but they
failed to show up. Wheeler
strawberries, which are to make
this section famous, wtre there
in plenty; and their absence was
regretted. In the afternoon,
however, the Orenco boys came
for a game, and after the first
seance, when Wheeler splattered
the score board with four per
pendicular lines, the game set
tled down to classy work. In
the last half of the sixth Orenco
left the field because of a decision
on first base, and their action in
leaving the ground is regretted,
because the boys were doing nice-

ing on the reputed tosser for the
Forest Grove league team.
Wheeler isn't swelled our
pride is justifiable, and in pitch
er "Wolf" we have a tosser who
has a basket lull 01 twisters,
corkscrews and deceptive twirls,
and the opposition has proven
Red Riding Hoods. In receiver
Perkins we have a man who can
hike the ball to second with ac
curacy, thus causing a woeful
lack of base larceny.
Wheeler has a growing com
munity and its ball team is wait
ing for more victims but while
we will win the games we will
also show the visitors a "bully"
good time, as Teddy would say
