day, and Banks walked away
with the battle by a Bcore of 7 to
15. Cornelius, however, Monday
sent in a protest, claiming the
itame, firstly, because they allege
Baker, of Sherwood, is not a res
ident of Washington county; and
secondly, because, they claim,
Baker admits he is a salaried
player. Just what the directors
will do will be decided a little
later on. Baker pitched the
opening game of the league, in
which Banks was defeated by
the Grove.
Baker struck out seven; liobin
son, five. Baker allowed one
man first base on balls. .

tained a number of their friends
at the Tamiesie Apartments, Ho
tel Washington, last Friday eve
ning. The evening was spent in
various games, several of which
recalled the days of Mother
Goose rhymes. Ice cream and
cake were served as refresh
ments. Every one enjoyed the
evening, and the young ladies re
ceived many expressions of
thanks for the pleasant time.

from the Grove in his car Tues

The Ruth Trust Co.. of Port
land, is platting another town
site, on the furdin place, near
Banks, and they expect to sell al
kinds of town lots and acreage,
Greer sells more garden seeds
in bulk than all the rest of his
competitors, because he takes
great care in selecting tresh seed
and the varieties that his cus
tomers want.
Rev. Philip Bauer, President
of the Oregon Prisoners' Aid
Society, was in the city Tuesday
getting new members for the or
ganization. This society helps
discharged prisoners to secure
work at honest labor and other
wise makes his lot better after
leaving the prison.
Hugh Rogers, of the P. R. &
N.. has been bulletined out
Buxton, and the railway office at
that point closed for the present.
Hugh will go to limber, where
he will be the general factotum
of the Co. for the immediate fu
ture. There will be a great deal
of shipping out of Timber, all
Summer, as soon as logging
operations, on an extensive scale,
are started.

so selected, and the Council reserves
the right to designate a different kind
of pavement If the property owners
shnll go direct, as above specified.

Council of Hillsboro, Washington
County, Oregon, did on May 2. 1911,
pass a resolution declaring its Intention
to Improve Washington street, from
the west line of Second street to the
east line of Third street, and in
the City of Hillsboro, Oregon, in the
