Aubrev P. Venen. a son of A.
P. Venen and wife, of Forest
Grove, was drowned yesterday,
on Puget Sound, when thesteam-

down and sank the Columbia, a
boat on which young Venen was
a passenger. The young man
was a favorite with all who knew
him. and his untimely death
causes a sincere regret. He was
a nephew of Mrs. W. R. Hoyt,
of Hillsboro. The voung man
was a few years ago an assistant
in the store of his cousin, Laurel
M. Hoyt
Hillsboro is still to have an
other bank, and the Controller of
the Currency has approved the
application of A. C. Shute, A. S.
Sholes. W. Mahon, A. McGill. M.
McDonald and Dr. J. P. Tamie
sie. to organize the American
National Bank, with a capitaliza
tion of $50,000. The incorpora
tors will make their plans public
for publication for next week.
John Lund, of Astoria, while
eetting off a train at Timber,
Monday, slipped and fell under a
car wheel of a boxcar, and sutler
ed a laceration of his left hand,
He came to Hillsboro and Dr,
Norman amputated the tip of the
middle finger and dressed the end
of the index and third fingers,
which were severely crushed

with some fellow Swedes to start
work in a short tunnel.
Billy Wolf, teaming around the

a minor child. Wolf and his wife
