siderable state advertising from
its rejiorters, who are sending out
dispatches telling about how
horses get mired down within a
block of the business section of

Mrs. Philip Porter, who last
week was committed to theatate
hospital at Salem, from Forest
Grove, Dr. Tucker examining
physician, died at the asylum
December 2. The Porters lived
on Gales Creek. Deceased was
but 27 years old, and leave a
hueband and two small children.
Samuel Graham, aged 75 years,
died in Portland the last of the
week. He was born in Illinois
in 1836, and came to Oregon in
1805, settling at Beaverton, where
he resided for five yeara, then
moving to Marshland, on th C.
lumbia Kiver. His wife died in
1897. One of his sons, It. P.
Graham, is a well known Port
land attorney, and was a law
partner with T. J. Cleeton, after
the latter gentleman officiated as
district attorney for this judicial
district. One of his sons, now
deceased, married a-daughter of
Aunt Ann Freeman, of Hillsboro.
