exhibits evinced tne proper pub
lic spirit, and the manner in
which the splendid fruit was
shown up for inspection found
approval in the minds of ail. Mr.
Alexander, of the Hoard of Trade,
struck the keynote of success in
the way lie handled the wonder
ful ( monstration of what old
Waslii. -ton county can do in this
line. The public spiritedness of
the stockmen w ho lent their aid
to the fair is to W highly com
mended, and the'ow ners of the
vegetable and poultry exhibits
have no less esteem for their
support.

Herman Kamna and wife re
turned yesterday from an ex
tended trip to California, whore
they visited friends and relatives.
They report a tine time, and

the late Sam Walker, well known
here in the early days, is here
from California, the guest of her
brothers, Alonzo and James Sig
ler, and sister, Mrs. William
Tupper. She is accompanied by
her son, Samuel, and they expect
to make an extended visit in the
Northwest before returning.
