last June, paid the penalty last
Friday at 1:2:30. at Salem. 1 It-
was iriven a ttropof live feet and
8 inches, or two inches less than
Rosi'lair, who was px wilted the
day prior. Ham-ll's jugular was
burst and the execution was the
bloodiest in the annals of tha
state. Harrell was penitent for
his crime, but made no express
ions except to Father Francis, of
Grants Pass, to whom he ex
pressed deep sorrow, and whose
faith he embraced.

George W. Ilavdon, aged 82
years, died at his home near
Thatcher, Septemler ?. 1910.
Deceased was a veteran of the
Rebellion, serving on the Union
side, and was also an Indian war
veteran. He was a nativ of
Hoone County. Missouri, and
crossed the plains in 1So2. After
serving in the Indian w ars, when
the Civil war commenced he en
listed. In all he served seven
years in Uth troubles. He has
lived in the Thatcher sectiun for
about 25 years. His widow, a
son, Allen, and an adopted
aughter, Miss Inatha Haydon,
survive, t lis nephew, James A.
Haydon, ha.s charge of the Port
land city barns, on the Fast side.
The funeral ttxk place last Fri-
iay and interment was in the
Union cemetery.

Carl Weissenborn died Thursday,
September 8. 1910, at Glencoe.
Deceased was Itorn in Pomniern,
Germany, in March, IS ll, and
immigrated to the United States
in 1870. He came to Oregon
about 16 years ago. and first set
tled in Clackamas County.
lleven months ago he settled in
Glencoe. His wife and three
children survive: Mrs. Charles
Walters, Glencoe; Mrs. Carrie
Deurr, Holy rood, Kansas; and
Mrs, Anna Polifka, of Portland.
The funeral took place Sunday
at the Tualatin Plains Presbyter
ian church, Kev. rrienchs, of
of Hillsboro, officiating.
W. F. Dessinger, of I'oaverton,
was in town Saturday. Mr.
Dessinger was the successful
bidder on the Heaverton new
school house, and has already
started hauling material for the
foundation and basement.
