THOMPSON - KMMEL
Dr. Frederick Hill Thompson and
Miss Nora Christine hmmel were
married Thursday Sept. 8. at
high noon. The ceremony was
performed at Maple View Farm,
the home of the bride's parents.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. F.mmel. by
the Rev. Rufus Thompson, fath
er of the groom. Dr. Grover (.'.
Bellinger, of Salem, was best
man and Miss Bonnie Becklev,
also of Salem, was bridesmai'
Dr. E. F. McKee a former col
lege frier.d of Dr. Thompson. sang
'0 Promise Me, and Mrs. J.
C. Emmel, an aunt of the bride,
sang "Love's Old Sweet Song."
Lsther Lmmel. sister of the
bride, played the wedding march
from 'Lohengrin .
Ihe bride wore white silk mul
trimmed in torchon lace and car
ried a bouquet of beautiful white
asters. Ihe bridesmaid wore
white silk chiffon over pink siik
and carried pink asters.
Ihe rooms were beautifully
decorated in white asters, ferns
and autumn leaves.
Immediately following the
ceremony a wedding lunch was
served. Many handsome pres
ents were received by the bride.
Dr. Frederick Hill Thompson
was graduated from the scien
tific department of Mc.Minnville
College and later took the med
ical course at Willamette Univer
sity. He finished with the high
est honors ever given a graduate
of the Willamette Medical Col
lege. He also passed with high
honors the state examinations.
He served two years at the Sal
em hospital and is now practic
ing medicine at Stayt'on. He is
the son of Rev. and Mrs. Rufus
Thompson, pioneer settlers of
Oregon.
The bride is a graduate of
Tualatin Academy. She then
attended Willamette University,
graduating with an A. B. degree.
They went immediately to their
new bungalow at Stay ton.

A large party surprised Geo.
Engeldinger at'the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Engeldinger, on Fir Street, last
evening, the occasion being the
young man's twenty-first birth
day. Music, Karnes and refresh
ments constituted the features
of the evening The piano per
formance of Vincent Engeldinger,
the thirteen year old son of host
and hostess was a revelation to
those who had not had the pleas
ure of hearing him.
The party dispersed at a late
hour wishing host and hostess,
and Mr. Engeldinger, many
happy birthdays.

chant, died at his home Tuesday
morning, from an attack of in
flammatory rheumatism, lie
was horn in Iowa, and would
have heenUo' years of aire Decem

Ib'ss, daughter of Mr. arid Mrs.
('-has. IIe::s, and sister of Mrs.
William Nelson, of Hillsboro.
The w idow and four small chil
dren survive. A brother, liev.
Herman Leisman, resides at
Orojcon City. The funeral took
place Wednesday, from the Beth
any Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Loisman had been more or
less of an invalid for several
years. I It? lived for a few years
on the North Plains, but about
thru; years aj.ro bought the Kunz'
store at Bethany, and lias con
ducted the business Kinco that
time. lie was a man of probity,
and enjoyed the confidence of
his community.
Mr. anil Mrs. F. M. Crahtree
and daughter, DoLaurice, of
Laurel, went to Salem yesterday
to take in the biir state fair.
C. V, Hayes, ot thii city, has
received a Posey Co., Ind., paper,

acres, and which required the
services of 150 men to care for.
