(iroc In tho past chuivh parsonages have not boon placed on tho tax roll, but hoivuftor it is to Ih ditTorvnt, aoooivling to a ruling of tho state tax commission. Tho commission has written Assessor Max Crandall that it expects him to place on tho tax roll all church property that is not used generally as a house of worship, ami make it mandatory that all chuivh parsonages are taxable property, whether occu pied by minister5, rented out, or otherwise. In other words, church property, (save and except btiilil ings atul the necessary real es tate going w ith it. ushI either as schools or houses of worship) used as residences of tuvsitling ministers must pay taxes just the same as other taxable prop erty. Hillsboro has several parson ages that come under this head ing. Assessor Crandall will jplace on tho tax roll the M. K. parsonage, the Kvangolieal par sonage, tho Christian church bungalow, and the St. Matthews residence, on tho Catholic pro erty. Forest Grove also has parson ages which will go on the list, atul there doubtless are others in the county. The tax commission quotes the statute applying and say there is no question that under tho law these residential buildings should have been subject to taxation. J. F.
