in the face by debris from an ex
plosion in his kitchen stove, to
dav. and he may lose the sight

and stolen several articles and
wound up their nefarious visit by
putting an explosive possibly,

'Arcade last week put on a
.-"Roosevelt in Africa film." the
house w as 'crowded to the doors
and there was not standing room
'at times. The house had the
largest patronage for many
months. It is said that the films
, was not spurious, and that those
w ho have seen the mighty hunter
are positive that the pictures
were Una tide. Anyway, it was
a straw to show that the Dutch
man is strong in the popular
heart.

finest cherries yet seen this sea
son, and some of his product has
been shipKi as far east as Ne
braska, with anothershipment to

0. P. Pointer, a son of Perry
Pointer, and a nephew of the
late County Treasurer Pointer,
died in Portland the first of the
week, and interment was in the
Hillst)oro cemetery. Deceased
was aUmt 30 years of age, and
formerly lived in this city and
on North Plains.
I). Harper, who has Iteen for
five years a resident of south of
Peaverton, was in the city yes
terday. He says that real prop
erty down there is worth from
three to five times what it was
w hen he located.
Mrs. Jennie Mortenson, of
Clatskanie, died June 23, 1910,
and was brought to this county
for burial. Deceased was lorn
in Kansas, and was a daughter
of Thomas J. Hill, of the South
Tualatin section. She was aged
31 years.
W. N. Barrett Jr., home on
his vacation after graduation at
Annapolis, has received orders
from the Naval Department to
report July 5, at Mare Island,
Cal., to go abroad the armored
cruiser, the Maryland.
Mrs. Miles K. Everitt, who has
been visiting with Mrs. John
Brown and other relatives, de
parted for her home in North
Bend, Tuesday. Her husband is
still the leading druggist in the
city ot his adoption.
Jos. I)rsung, the contractor,
was up from Newton, yesterday,
and says he will start work on
the Barlow bridge, near (Ileneoe,
for the county, right after the
Fourth of July.
T. G. Todd, of alMjve Forest
Grove, and who has a host of
friends in the county seat, was
down this forenoon. T. (J. says
he will be down the Fourth to take
in the big celebration.
M. C. Hewitt, the carpenter, is
still inthehousemoving business,
and if you have a building to
move, see him for an estimate.
Perry Watson was down from
Buxton, yesterday, on business
connected with caretaking for
the Brown Lumber Co., when
their property went into litiga
tion. Mrs. E. Itood, of near Scholls,
was a caller at the Argus office
this afternoon.
