son, of Forest Grove, was dow
to the city, iuesday. He says
that the law prohibiting the kil
ing of does was one of the best
measures ever enacted, and that
it has been a life saver. Before
that law went into effect, there
were eleven men killed annually,
and last season, but one man was
killed by accident The surety
in the present law is that a man
will not be moved to shoot unless
he sees a pair of prongs. The
law, as to the open season, has
been changed and the killing sea

vs.
Charles Wolpert,
The surgeon has apprised John
Powell, brakesman on the Sante

wreck, recently, that he will not
be able to return to his duties
before August 1. Powell is now
visiting his mother, Mrs. M. A.

Willis Anderson, manager of
the big Ladd & Reed farm, at
Keedviile, was in town Tuesday.
He put in 440 acres of grain this
season, and says f;hat crops are
looking fine, although he does
not believe the hay crop will
come up to the prospects that
showed two weeks ago. Much
of the early hay is now coming
into bloom which is early and
more than likely this will mean a
fall-down on expectations. Still
there will be enough anyway.
Deputy County Clerk E. C.
