Mr. Loisy was born in Lancas
ter County. Pennsylvania, Jan.
J.-. 1S2. and lived there until he
was lo years old, when his fami
ly moved to Wayne County, Iowa.
In 1no. ho and a party of four
started West hehind oxen. The
party stayed three months on the
American Kiver, and Mr. I.eisy
then came on to Oregon, settling
in tin's county. He worked on
farms until 1"I, and then set
tled on a homestead on Dairy
Creek, near the present town of
Hanks. Later he settled on a
farm three miles northwest of
HilisUro.
His aired wife, Esther Marsh
Loisy, a y.otu vr of IS survives.

rilled honesty. Up to the hour
he was stricken, he txk a great
interest in public affairs, and,
when the stroke came he wa.s
listening to a newspaper article,

Idaho, w no was down on a visit.
The funeral was conducted under
