The Board of Trade held a meet ing Monday niiibt at the Council Chamber, President J. P. Tamieeie presiding Talks were made show ing the necessity for reviving the Roard Dr Tamieie exhibited large bujdle of letters, which be said were a result of advertising Washington county one issue in Sunset magazine. The county will have an advertisement in that mag azine for an entire year, and some thing must be done by the Board. if we are to realixs the beneGta of all this publicity. He stated that the booklet containing a write np of this county, with illustrations, will be mailed by the Sunset people, when names of inquirers are given them by the different towns and communities of the county. A 'ubwantial collection for postage as taken up, and the meeting ad journed. If Hillsboro ever needed such an organization as a board of trade, it is right now. Fortune has favored the town, but the time has come when the people must take hold and purh. The beet reeults cannot be had by sittiog down and waiting f;r them to come to us. We must organize and reach out tnd get what we need, Hilleloro needs more factories and a larger payroll. The way to get them is to invite them, and a live board of t ade should be kept up for that purpose One of the most important ex hibits to be made at the forthcom ing Street Fair should be the dairy exhibit. Washington county is famed for its fine dairy herds, and easily stands at the head of the int. in the matter of the quality nd quantity of its milk and but ter fat output, in this stale. Tbst a creditable exhibit of its herds -bould be made at the Fair, in or if-r to advertise and exemplify the industry, all who are interested in the dairy future of the county are agreed. Dr. V B. Bailey, wno is chairman of the committee on cat tle, is anxious to hear from all par sons who expect to exhibit at the Fair, so that proper reservation may be made for the shelter and care of stock. The Dr. would also like to see a butter fat contest held, during the Fair, open to all cowb of any breed. This contest could be arranged, provided there are enough entries to represent the various breeds. A comfortable tent will be provided, and a man hired to look after the stock, day and night. Wm. Schultnerich, Thoe. Witby Co in be and Mayor Dennis have registered stock, and there are a number of registered Holsteins, at Forest Grove. Alex Chalmers has the beat herd of registered short horns in the state. A. B. Bailey, Franklin Chalmers and Wallace Marnh have pure bred sires with their hordn, and Grant Mann has a couple of Polled Jerseys, which are regmtered, and there are others. I' is hopr-d that local pride will in duce the owners of good dairy stock to exhibit. A number of per sons at a diHtance have made in quiry as to whether there would be euch an exhibit, and evidently are interested in seeing what tbisooun- ' "I if" Tbul'1' ft S", t L "I, .I !i" 1m ii 1 HIS SPACI IS l MOURNING f,ir the dead otir wlu h- l"'l x't awakrilrd l the UU that the I'oal Caid l'-t lanira I he moat tvmdclr line id xtl Kttdi and Jhol,ii;i'hii' ni'lir wrl i1 I'm Hand t 'otne in and sre the new riidt A.
