CLYDE WILSON DIES
Quong Ie, his Slayer, out on
his own Recognizance
E WAS RELEASED LAST FRIDAY
ssc Will Come oo at Fall Term ef
Circuit Court
Clyde Wilson, the young man who
was shot by Qaong Lee, the Chi
nese laundryman at Forest Grove,
Saturday night, May 30, died at
his borne last Saturdsy morning,
as a result of bis wounds. Quong
Lee appeared before Juotice H. T
Bagley, last Friday, and was re-
eased on his own recognizance.
He will likely be arraigned at the
fall term of circuit court. Since
the death of Wilson, however, the
Chinaman may be arraigned, the
charge being either murder in tbe
first degree or manslaughter, as
the Deputy District Attorney may
elect. Wilson was shot for at
tempting to enter the Chinaman's
wash house, for tbe par nose of
rioking beer and eating a lunch.
be Chinaman says he bad been
molested several times during the
evening of the shooting, by parties
bo bombarded bis house with
beer bottles, breaking the lock and
tearing out a panel of the door. A
post-mortem examination was held
He was buried Monday, at For
est Grove. Wilson was respecta

relatives in this county.
STUART STANDS BY GREEKS
G. Stuart, foreman of tbe con
struction gang in HilUboro, work
ing on the Oregon Electric line,
left the employ of the construction
company Tuesday. On last Sun
day, )2 Greeks were discharged by
the general superintendent, Mr
Miller, and on Monday of thie
week 24 more were let go. The
GreekB.it is claimed by Mr Stuart,
are tbe victims of a Portland em
ployment agency. The men dis
charged paid tbe Portland agency
$5 65 each, to get them a job on
tbe iwectric construction. This
sum included their fare to Hillsbo
ro, it is said. Ine U reeks were
given five days work, at $1 50 per
day, and then fired. Stuart claims
that he objected to this treatment
tbe Greeks, whom he describee
as good men, with the result that
he was let out of his job. He,
however, has a good job at v an
couver, Wasn., on railroad con
struction. The Greeks claim they
are victims of a game which the
employment firm in Portland is
working, to get the f o fee, it being
to the aforesaid firm s interest to
have the men let out soon after
their employment, in order that
new ones may be hired, and the
fat fee collected, making a profita
ble endless chain. This statement
is corroborated by Mr. Stuart, who
intimates that the employment
agency is not the only beneficiary
in the matter. Many of tbe men
thrown out oi employment did not
have enough money to get out of
town. A number of new men ar
rived to take their places. The
Oregon Electric Co. is in no way
involved, as the work of construc
tion is let by contract.
