Some time ago, Campbell's wife secured divorce from him, and the Court, among other things, awarded to the wife a sewing machine, which Dep uty Emmett Quick attempted to take from the premises one day last week. Campbell ordered Quick to get out, and drew a gun on him, and the latter being unarmed, withdrew. Monday, a warrant was worn out charging Campbell with "pointing a firearm at another," and Deputies Kane and Downs went up to arreat him. They found him at his home, on upper Gales Creek, and after knocking at tbe door severs 1 times, opened it and went in, where they found Camp bell behind tbe door. He was in a bad mood, and after some conversa tion, made as if to draw a guo, but Kane was too quick for him and covered bim with a weapon, and ordered "hands up " Downs then seized the man's gun band, while Kane reached around and tecured tbe guo, which was a six shooter, fully loaded. He was then hand cuffed, and brought to town. On the road, be said to Kane, "I wish you had shot me." Campbell is half crazed over family trouble, and in addition to bis revolver, he had on bis person a pair of brass- knuckles and two pocket knives. He was arraigned before JuBtice H. T. Bagley, Monday afternoon, for preliminary examination, and pleaded Dot guilty, and was re manded to jail. He was formally arraigned today, and placed under $500 bonds to answer to tbe next term of Circuit Court. A Portland paper is authoritv tor the statement that Mrs. Lucy Jory, the one-armed woman, who was recently arrested in Portland for bigamy, was married to a man named Edmondson, in Hillsboro, March 21st, 1308. A search of tbe records at the Court House, shows that no such marriage under tbe names given by tbe Portland paper, took place bere, nor does anyone remember any "one-armed woman" who lived in this place by the name of either Jory or Edmondson, thus tbe Hillsboro ecd of the story would seem to be a fake.
