Riley Cave has discovered a con
spiracy oo the part of Kentuckiars
and Missourians to unload their
Jacks and mules upon Oregonian,
his idea being based upon the fscl
that the mule is U coming unprof
itable to Eastern raisers. Riley
says the Missourians went into the
mule business extensively, and ti
nally got overloaded, ai d the mar !
ket was io a bsd state until
the Boer-English war opened, when !
the Missourians and Kentuckians
sold off much of their surplus stock ,
to the English for motive power f r
tbeir wagon trains, and for their
batteries Mr. Cave thinks that
the mule is cot wanted in this,
country, and that it is inferior to the
horse in most every way. They do 1
not fill the bill for draft animals or
for driving purposes, so Mr. Cave,
thinks farmers would belter im
prove the lstter stock and let the
males go. He states that he re

who stated that he hsd been offer
