The gasoline launch, "Ooida,'
owned by Dr. Pittenger, Con. Arch'
bold, Chaa. Lamkin and Albert
Harlrampf, made a trial trip on
Jackson lake, last Sunday. Owing
to ths dense fog, navigation was
perilous, and at one time it was
thought all on board would perish,
but they dido t. They ran on to a
fence post, and slid over it.

Citiiens will remember that it
blew some here last .Thursday
night, but the gale reached a veloc
ity of 96 miles an hour at North
Head, the weather bureau at the
mouth of the Columbia. This is
the highest wind velocity recorded
since ths establishment of a weatb
r station at North. Head several
years ago.
A. Q. Lucas, at one time an
agent of the Southern Pacific Com
pany, in Hilisboro, is now in the
hardware business at Long Beach,

of this city, received two abstracts,
Saturday, the property of A. E.
Leonard, Heppner, Oregon, which

through the great Heppner flood
