a term of one year, the 210 acre
tract, adjoining town, and known
the HilUhoro Fair Grounds, to

ranch. Merwra. Gray A Chappell
are already fixing up the track eta
blue for the accomodation of a
large string of race horses soon to
arrive from Calgary, British Co
lumbia. This string is owned by
a gentleman by the name of An
derson. Mr. Chappell now has a
numler of fine race humus in train
ing for Spring racea, and will add
other for the firm from time lo
time.

the Portland Irvington track haa
been cloaed, arrangements will he
made to eetabliah general training
stable here, and have the track

thorn and Mias Mary Mulloy, of
Laurel, were united in marriage by
Kev. L. K. B linen Mies Lottie
llathorn acted as bridesmaid, and
Mr. Alfred Mulloy as best man.
The bride was beautifully gowned
in cream crepe du chine, and car
ried a bouquet of white carnations.
The wedding msrch was played by
MUs Kdith listhorn. Mr. and
Mrs llathorn will make their home
at Laurel.

Arthur Francis Goeney, son of L.
M. and K. K. Gosney, was born in
Klickitat count v. Wasbinzton. Jan.
21, 18117, and died November 24,
r.K)7, at his home, two miles south
of Glencoe.aged 10 years, 10 months
and 3 davs. and was buried at
Shady Brook, at 2 o'clock, Monday,
lis leaves a father, mother, brother
and sister, and many friends to
mourn his loss.

A suit has been filed with the
county clerk of this county, in cir
cuit court, try Joseph Lemberg and
wife, of near Middleton, against
Washington county. Some time
ago, a road was located through a
portion of the farm of the plaintiff,
who demanded of the county
court the sum of $1,000 damages
The conrt allowed a much less sum,
which was not satisfactory to Mr.
Lemberg, beoce the suit. Therosd
located, add over which there will
be litigation, is No. 438, and runs
between Middleton and Sherwood
W.N. Barrett is attorney for the
plaintiff. The plaintiff aekB for
$1,000 aa damages.

STRICKEN WITH PARALYSIS
Mrs. Zina Wood, one of the pioneer
women 01 Hillsboro, waa stricken
with paralysis, early Wednesday
morning, and at the hour of going
to presa, small hopea are entertain
ed of her recovery. Mra. Wood's
health haa not been good for some
time, but her condition was not
considered serious until the stroke
of paralysis came. She haa been
unconscious all day, and her son,
Dr. W. D. Wood, who is at her
bedside, ia fearful of the outcome.
