A Portland real estate company
Is iab-dividing about 800 acres bs
tweea Beaver ton and Reedville,

town lota. A new station has been
established by the railroad com
pany, called Wheeler, where the
Forest Grove local now stops, and
other trains will make stops at
this new station later on. A. A.
Morrill, deputy county surveyor, is
now working upon a man of the
sub-divisions, which will be filed
as on as completed. It is report
ed that several Hood River apple
raisers have bought apple tracts
there, and are enthusiastic about
Washington county soil for apple
growing. Mr. Morrill recently saw
a box of Washington county ap
ples, of the Spitienberg variety,
sold in Portland for 14 per box.
After two weeks spent in a Strug
gle for life, little 8 year old Uarley
Jeter, of bunnyeiJe, I or. land, is
now out of danger, and the attend
ing physician says he will get well.
Some time ago, the little fellow got
severely burned while playing
around a bonfire, with some com
panions. It was thought at the
time that the child would not re
cover. E. H. Jeter, the boy's f
tber used to live in GaMon, this
county, and was connected with the
uaston Co operative Milling Co.
Married, at the residence of the
bride's father, Hon. Wm. B. Jolly,
Portland, Oregon, October 16, 190.,

Sawyer and Cora Jane Jolly. The
contracting parties received many
beautiful and costly presents from
the numerous friends and relatives
and the wedding was a pretty af
fair. The Jollvs are old residents
of Washington county, where they
are favorably known.
County Fruit Inspector Harris,
of Forest Grove, wants the name of
very man in Washington county,
who has a prune dryer, together
with the number of pounds dried
this and last year. His object is
to keep a record of the amount of
pruoes raised in this county, and
kindly asks that growers who may
see tnis notice, will drop him a poe
tal card, with the information de

Charles J. Aldrich, of Forest
Grove, died on the 25th inst , aged
50 years. The cause of his death
was Bright's disease, from which
tie naa been a sunerer lor some
time past. He was born in New
i ork, but came from Missouri to
the Grove four years ago. His
brother came out from Missouri, a
week ago, to see him, and had start
. ed home a few hours before death
came to the sick man.
L. A. Whitoomb joined his wife
in Hillsboro, last Sunday, having
just returned from Fairbanks, Alas

He says that Fairbanks will send
out about $6,000,000,000 in gold
this year, and but for the labor
troubltB up there, would have
made the amount $10,000,000,000
Mr. Wbitcomb thinks of returning
to Fairbanks next spring.

In obedience to the proclamation
of the Governor, both of the Hills
boro banks posted notices in their
windows, Tuesday morning, that
they would not transact any busi
ness during the holiday dates
named in the proclamation. This
observance is general with banks
everywhere in the stale.

interest.
