The ceremony wan the UHtml elab
orate ritual of the church for such
occasions, and was solemn aud im
pressive. After the ceremony, the
gueta drove to the residence of the
bride's parents, one and a half
miles north of Reedville, where a
big dinner was spread, at which
more than 120 invited guest par
ticipated. The afternoon was spent
in dancing and merrymaking, after
the slyle ol the old fashioned tier
man wedding festivities, and was
highly erjiyed by all. Many
beautiful and easily presents were
received by the happy couple.
The groom is a prosperous farmer,
near Hillshoro, and both are popu
lar. Among Hillsltoro guests were
Rev. Father Huchoker, h. I Ku-
ratli ami wife, James Miltenberger
and wile, Mr. Rahn and wi(i, who
went to Reedville, while a number
of Hillsboro people were present at
the wedding.

CALVIN BAILEY
Calvin Bailey was born July 20
1830. in Clearfield County, Penn ,
died September 2G, at his residence
near Blooming, south of Cornelius,
aged 76 years. February 19, 1851
he was married to Savira EUtiiger.
In the Spring of 18S4 Mr. Bailey
came to Oregon aud located with
his family at Blooming, where he
has resided ever since. Mrs. Bai
ley died June 15, 1800, and was
laid to rest in Cornelius cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was a man of strong
convictions, and was honored and
respected by all who knew him.
The funeral Bervice was conducted
by Rev. S. J. Lindsay, in the Meth
odist Episcopal Church, Cornelius,
of which Mr. Bailey was a faithful
member for many years.
Jiight children, a total number
of eleven born to them, survive, as
follows: Mrs. Geo. Johnson, South
Tualatin: Mrs. Henry Wilson, for
est Grove; Lawrence Bailey, Port
land; Mrs. F,dward Schulniench,
Hillsboro; Mrs. Harry Baker, Gas
ton; Mrs Henry Pearson and Mrs.
Irvin Crowther, Oakland, Cal, and
Daniel Bailey, of Blooming. Two
children died in infancy, and one
grown daughter, a Mrs. Lewis
Keckley.

improving his health. Mrs. Ander

Wednesday, from Mrs. Michalec,
announcing her husband's death.
Mr. Michalec leaves three sisters in
Hillsboro, to-wit: Mrs. Thomas
'ibren. Mrs Samuel Stephens and
Mrs. Ludema Anderson Rudolf
Michalec was born in Austria, May
10, K7i, and came to America
Feb. li, IMS. He was married in
K)2 to Mis Celia James, of Sheri
dan. The racing program will lie car
ried out at the Fair grounds, west
"f town, at 1 o'clock, Saturday.

J. will participate. There will also
b one, and possibly two, saddle
pony races, and if the weather will
permit, Burke Tongue's splendid
pacer will give an exhibition go,
which will be well worth seeing.

son, there were produced 46 mer
chantable Hubbard squashes, hav
ing an aggregate weight of 500 lbs.

squashes were rused on the old
Kenyon Crandall place, near Cor
nelius, a part of which is now
o-vned by Mr. James. Charley
thinks he has all competitors bad

gus cilice, which is being used for
hsplays of fruit, vegetables, grain,

The Milne warehouse hag been
leased by Geo. A. Brown, and he
is ready to receive hay, grain and

Joseph II. Robinson, of Farm
ington, is attending the Fair today.
Beside a nice exhibit of fruit at the
Fair, he showed the editor some
old coins, one a ten cent piece,
minted in lboo, a ?5 piece of 1845,
He also has two ten cent pieces of
1802, which he thinks are val
uable.
