County, Kansas, was here yester

attend the street carnival. Dr. C.
It. Brown will be in the procession,

to trade his Climax mill stock for
a valuable ranch near Heppner, re
turned the last ol the weok, satis
fied that old Washington County
was ptill the best for him. Mr.
Greearrun into one of those East
ern Oregon dust storms, and that
knocked the trade out ol him in a
hurry.
J. 15. Kirkwood, formerly of
Farmington, and who is a graduate
of Taciho University, has retired
from liis position as professor ol
botany at Syracuse University,
and has accepted a position as
botaniBt for a rubber company in
Mexico at a salary of about $3000
per year, household expenses and
reBidi-nco furnished, Mr. Kirk
wood 13 well known here, being
married to a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. W. K. Iloyt.
