N., was unloading; oil from the oil
tank, hint Thursday r, iht, at the
epur at the water tank, and when

with a lantern, the vapor x'vAug
from the crude oil, at the manhole,!
ignited, and the explosion wan
heard for eeveral block. The force
of the explosion blew bin lantern
and bat over IJO feet distant, arid
young Gray, who is about 17, was.
badly burned abjut the head, face,
neck, chent, and bis right arm
The burn on his neck, under his
chin, is very bad, and he wiil he
laid up eeveral days. He at once
went to the home of Dr. V. J. Bai
ley, who attended the burns.
The accident took place about
11:00 o'clock in the evening, and
at the came time a falling star was
noticed down in tb Jackeon Bot
tom section. The next morning
there-was talk on the streets th.i'
a meteor had fallen on tho river
bottom, and it was statu! that the
ohjtct had exploded wbeo it etruck
the ground. Many were fine of
thin, and when they found that the
noise was from the oil tank, it oc-
cisioned a genuine turpne.
