Ed. Mizen, of above Greenville,
was in town yesterday. He has
sold his place up there, but expects
to again locate in Washington
County.
' George Butler, who is crowding
his sixtieth year, is undergoing a
siege of whooping cough, and the
way he whoope" is not slow. This
second childhood run on infantile
diseases is getting epidemic.
Commencing Sunday next, the
Corvallu tram will leave Portland
at 7.-00 in the morning, thus reach
ing this city a halt hour earlier.
On the return trip the train will
leave here five minutes later in the
evening.
Sam Sorenson, of near Farming
"ton, was up yesterday and has so
far recovered from his broken leg
that he has thrown away his cane.
Mr. Sorenson waa the victim of an
ccident in a logging camp last
Winter.
Geo. Lennon, of Vinelands, was
in town yesterday, and says that
they need rain up in his section,
but not as badly as down on the
plains, as grain is always sown
earlier up in his vicinity.,
John R. Bailey, of Buxton, was
down yesterday to the county seat.
Mr. Bailey says that fruit has a
fine Betting up his way, and that
the pears are so thick that he will
have to thin them out so they will
not be stunted.
Still reports of a light hay crop

says his section will be short; A
Anderson, of Helvetia, says the
clover is light up his way, while
Jos. Kobinson, or Farmington,
states that down in his section

' Paul C. Long, who is running an
engine for Hill, on the North Bank
road, at Vancouver, was in town
yesterday, the guest of his brother,
of the Argus. The work on the
bridge over there has bsen suspend
ed owiog to the high water in the
Colombia.
J. J. Weysenback and family are
now at home on Tacoma Avenue,
Kei I wood, Portland, where Mr.
Weisenback is in charge of the
farming on the Crystal Spring
rarm, belonging to the Ladds
- Mr. Weisenback formerly managed
the A. H. Johnson farm, Reedville

ning, returning from a trip in the
north of the county, visiting wards
of the society. He states that the
society has about 20 children lo

in this county.
