Herman Hoffaber, of near Ti

hill county and taken before Judge
C. E. Kindt, of Kinton, last week,
on a charge of having assauited
one Mrs. 8. H. Behnke. who resides
between Kinton and Tigardville.
The woman alleges that Hoffaber
came along and tried to entice
away her do?, and when remon
strated with Hoffaber drew a revol
ver on berand ordered her into the
house. Judge Kindt placed Hofia
ber'e bonds at f XX), and Constable
L M. Heeae brought the prisoner
to the county jail as the bond was
not forthcoming. When seen in
tbe county jail Hoffaber said he
bad been drioking, but tbat he bad
no revolver and never did have
one. 1 be case will be investigated
by the district attorney.

It is rot likely that tbe city
council will permit a biaeball
ground far general uses in the city-
park, as they think that Sunday
playing might be objectionable to
many citizens. They fay that
those who like a ball game can go
and see one at any time and games
at the park on Sundays, with the
attended noise, might keep people
away, who would otherwise make
a day in the shade. A ball ground
will be platted, however, for use on
celebration days days and tor other
occasions. "
